Hey there! How’s it going? I hope you are getting all settled into the 2020-2021 school year: getting the hang of things, making headway on your lessons, and generally feeling good about your progress.
Saxon Math Rewards: It’s Not too Soon to Start!
But once we have the basics down, it’s time to push ourselves a bit. I love to teach your kids, but I really love to see them excel. I want to be part of them knowing what it’s like to give their all and achieve something that may have once seemed out of reach. That kind of accomplishment is only achieved when we push ourselves a bit.
That’s why I do a Club Month once or twice a year. Saxon math rewards are important, because kids using this curriculum put in a lot of effort. And I want to make sure they get recognized! Club Month is just a special time to motivate all my students to do something that may be challenging for them.
Back when I started Nicole the Math Lady, I wanted to make sure kids knew that when they work hard on Saxon math, they get rewards. The 30-5 Club and the All-Right Club are my simple way to motivate kids to give their best when they sit down to tackle math! See, I ADORE rewarding kids for achievement and hard work, and you wouldn’t believe how just a simple challenge motivates them.
So this month, you and I can work together to know they CAN achieve new things. Which club will they go for? That depends on the kid.
Saxon Math Rewards Option #1: The All-Right Club
If your kid is getting a majority of problems right, they’re probably a good fit to go for the All-Right Club. This is the club that rewards kids for getting a score of 100% in any given practice set or on a test. It’s a tough challenge, but it’s a huge one that is sure to bring a smile to their face!
Saxon Math Rewards Option #2: The 30-5 Club
Or maybe your child needs consistency. Maybe they groan at the thought of doing 30 problems every day for math practice. Maybe so far, they’ve only pushed themselves to do 15 or 20 problems a day. That’s where the 30-5 Club comes in. It rewards them for pushing themselves to do the hard work of ALL 30 problems, five days in a row. Trust me, doing every mixed practice problem in whatever Saxon level they’re in is a lot of work, and I LOVE to celebrate this accomplishment with kids.
Just what do they get when they get in the club? Here’s a list of what happens when your kid goes for these particular Saxon Math Rewards:
Fifteen minutes of fame. Okay, so it’s just a shout-out from me on my weekly Wall of Fame segment. But they tend to think that’s pretty cool.
A sense of accomplishment. We ALL need this, now more than ever!
More math practice and knowledge. Especially because once they’ve done it, they lose the “There’s no way I can do THAT!” excuse. (But don’t tell them that yet!)
If your kid is vying to get into one of the clubs, here’s what to do:
Grade their practice set(s) or test.
Take a picture of your child either 1) holding your graded practice set(s) or 2) doing their favorite thing. (Please note: while I understand that everyone has different hobbies, please do not send pictures of children with firearms, weapons, or dead animals.)
Then email the following things to info@nicolethemathlady.com:
the photo and your permission to use it
your child’s age, city, and state
the name of the textbook and the lesson(s) they worked on
an interesting fact about your child
Ready to get to work? I know my Nicole the Math Lady kids have got this, and that I’m going to have videos full of proud, accomplished students this month! Math can be hard. But celebrating and Saxon Math rewards are always fun. Give your child something to smile about this month–get them on that Wall of Fame and watch them glow.
