If you had to describe 2020 in one word, what would it be? At best, it’s probably something along the lines of “weird,” “bizarre,” or the one that everyone has been using, “unprecedented.” At worst? Well, I don’t even want to go there. It’s been a doozy already and like so many other things, I bet the last part of this school year hasn’t quite been what you expected.
I imagine, then, that you may be dreaming of a better school year starting this fall? So am I. In fact, I want your 2020-2021 school year to be one of your best ever. That’s why I’ve been working for months on some very special new features for the Nicole the Math Lady website. They’ll be available this summer and I think they’ll change the way you and your student feel each morning when you think about math for the day.
Here’s what’s coming:
That’s right. Online grading will be fully integrated into the site where your kids are already learning. This is a HUGE time saver and I am so excited to offer it to you. Instead of spending your precious time grading, you’ll be able to focus on problem spots. Your student will get instant feedback on how they are doing so they can make changes as they go. You’ll get instant feedback on how they’re doing. Then you can easily course-correct and nip trouble spots in the bud. Need reports for record-keeping? The online grading function will help with that, too.
We ALL need community. Even kids. If you’ve been in the Facebook group, you know that questions pop up all the time about specific problems in each level. Other subscribers are great at chiming in with help, but now you and your students will have a level-specific, dedicated (very secure and appropriately safeguarded) online forum to discuss practice set problems. If your student just can’t get the reason why an answer is what it is, Class Chat will help them get answers from others working through the same Saxon level.
I think we all know that rewards work. I can’t give your student a doughnut every time they ace a test or a gold star every time they do more mixed practice problems. Instead, I am working to do the next best thing. The new site will have a virtual rewards program that will issue gaming-style accolades when students excel in their math efforts.
Need help memorizing math facts? You’ll find a Facts Practice Drill Program here. You can also access short tutorial videos to clarify or refresh a concept. The new site will have lots of “little” helps that can make a BIG difference in math understanding.
I’ll keep you posted on launch dates and all the subscription levels you’ll have available to you once the new site opens. Online learning isn’t one-size-fits-all so yes, you will have options. Stay tuned and by all means, get excited! I know I am.
I have heard from so many subscribers that have persevered and finished this wacky school year strong, despite all its challenges. I’m already so proud of what you’ve accomplished. But next year? Regardless of what happens, you’ll have so many more resources available to you. It could just be your best math year yet.
