What's the difference between Saxon's Algebra 1 textbooks? Which does Nicole recommend?
Saxon publishes two different Algebra 1 textbooks.
Algebra 1, 3rd ed -
- orange/blue cover
- includes .25 credit of integrated geometry
- should be followed by Saxon's Algebra II, 3rd ed
- still in publication for homeschoolers & public/private schools
Algebra 1, 4th ed
- camera on the cover
- does not include geometry
- can be followed by any geometry course or any Algebra II (without integrated geometry)
- published for the school market, going out of print in the near future
With the above options, there are a couple of different paths for Saxon's higher level math. The path Nicole recommends depends on your child’s math skills and desired college/career path. You can read more about the different paths here.
