If you&#8217;d like to read up on the details and how you can sign up, click <a href=\"https:\/\/nicolethemathlady.com\/announcements\/welcome-to-the-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/nicolethemathlady.com\/announcements\/welcome-to-the-summer\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 1  begins <strong>Monday, June 5<sup>th<\/sup> at 12:00 am EST<\/strong> and ends<strong> Saturday, June 10<sup>th<\/sup> at midnight EST.<\/strong>&nbsp;  Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll need to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Week 1: Everything You Need to Know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><\/td><td><strong>Drill Team-A-Thon &#8211; Addition\/Subtraction Facts<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Drill Team-A-Thon &#8211; Multiplication\/Division Facts<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Mastery Bank Tournament<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>What will my student be doing this week?<\/td><td>Your student will learn the Plus 0 and Plus 1 math facts.<\/td><td>Your student will learn the 0-, 1-, and 10-times tables.<\/td><td>Your student will complete a minimum of 50 Mastery Bank problems this week to be eligible for the Tournament.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>How do they get started?<\/td><td>Have your student log in to their account and select the Drill Team Addition-Subtraction program on their My Classes page.<\/td><td>Have your student log in to their account and select the Drill Team Multiplication-Division program on their My Classes page.<\/td><td>Have your student log in to their account and select Mastery Bank on their My Classes page.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>What do I need to do?<\/td><td>Get your student ready each day to spend about 15 minutes on Drill Team.<br>Before bedtime, do a quick review of the math facts your student learned that day.<\/td><td>Get your student ready each day to spend about 15 minutes on Drill Team.<br>Before bedtime, do a quick review of the times tables your student learned that day.<\/td><td>Review the Recommended Topics list. Select 2-3 topics for your student to focus on and assign them a few problems from each topic. Have them work for about 15 minutes a day.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>What else should I know?<\/td><td>The Plus 0 and Plus 1 math facts are quite easy, and your student will learn them very quickly. That\u2019s ok. Let them have an easy week as it will get harder as the weeks go on.<br>While you&#8217;ll be tempted to skip ahead, remember the goal of Drill Team is to learn the facts slow and steady. This will lead to better memorization and retention in the long run.<\/td><td>The 0-, 1-, and 10- times tables are quite easy. Your student may learn them very quickly. That\u2019s ok. This gives them \u201cwins\u201d and builds their confidence.<br>They can use the One Minute Tutorial link when they need help on a topic.<br>Once you see your student has mastered a topic, feel free to move onto other topics.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>How are students recognized?<\/td><td>Once your student successfully recites the math facts (Day 4), you can submit their name and photo for our Wall of Fame by Saturday at midnight (EST). You\u2019ll find the submission form on the Math-a-Palooza tab in your parent account.<\/td><td>Once your student successfully recites the times tables (Day 5), you can submit their name and photo for our Wall of Fame by Saturday at midnight (EST). You\u2019ll find the submission form on the Math-a-Palooza tab in your parent account.<\/td><td>Your student will receive 20 points for each correct answer they get on the first try and 5 points for a correct answer on a retry. The more problems they do and get correct, the higher up the leaderboard they\u2019ll be. They can keep track of their point total on the Math-a-Palooza tab on their student profile.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Did you say something about prizes?<\/td><td>or each Wall of Fame appearance, your student will receive one entry in the virtual Lunch with Nicole giveaway (which includes a $50 gift card for lunch.).
