How\u2019s it going? <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I hope well, but it\u2019s 2020 so I\u2019m pretty sure that, like everyone else, the path you\u2019re walking on feels new and unfamiliar. Normally November has us looking forward to holidays and family time, but it\u2019s likely this year\u2019s celebrations will be different for many of us. This all feels hard.<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s why now, more than ever, <strong>it feels right and important to give thanks,<\/strong> and to do it often. I find tremendous benefit in practicing gratitude and I\u2019ve tried to use what influence I have to help my students to do the same. Because of that desire, for the past few years I\u2019ve encouraged ALL my subscribers to take my Gratitude Challenge. But here are just three of the ways it can help us.<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Gratitude keeps us living in the present.<\/strong> It\u2019s hard to feel anxious about the future when you are fully engaged in the now. Giving thanks keep us from feeling nervous about what\u2019s going to happen. And in a time of unknowns, we need all the help with that we can get!<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Gratitude also helps us push back against negative emotions.<\/strong> Anger? Fear? Confusion? Gratitude can help. If you\u2019re feeling mad or frustrated about something from your past, gratitude can help you find a nugget of joy, even in the crummiest situations. Feeling confused about a situation? Gratitude can help clarify what you want or need from it.&nbsp; The list goes on&#8211;if you\u2019re feeling something uncomfortable, gratitude can help shift your mindset on it.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Giving thanks can melt away stress.<\/strong> Gratitude <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtor.org\/2020\/07\/08\/how-practicing-gratitude-helps-you-deal-with-anxiety\/#:~:text=By%20accepting%20and%20acknowledging%20that,holding%20yourself%20back%20from%20doing.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">triggers a shot of dopamine&#8211;the feel good hormone<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. So cultivating gratitude can make you feel happy, over and over again. It\u2019s a surefire way to feel better. All you have to do is train your mind to find the things you can give thanks for!<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nicolethemathlady.com\/announcements\/is-gratitude-the-key-to-happiness-2019-gratitude-challenge\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are many more benefits<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but hopefully just those will motivate you to come along with me on this month\u2019s challenge. Here\u2019s how it works:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have your student make a list of one or more things they are grateful for every day. They can make the list or you can write it for them.&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do that for five days in a row.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Post a picture of the list in the Facebook group with the hashtag #Gratitude2020 by <strong>Tuesday, November 24<\/strong>. (If you\u2019re not on Facebook, email it to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:info@nicolethemathlady.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">info@nicolethemathlady.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the subject line &#8220;GRATITUDE 2020&#8221;.) Make sure your student\u2019s first name and age is on the picture!<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Watch for your student&#8217;s list in our 2020 Gratitude Celebration Video, Thanksgiving week. We\u2019ll send it via email and post it online.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Want to participate yourself?
